Welcome, I’m Jeffery Rhodes, a Beat Maker, Musician, Activist and Director of a non-profit in Portland Oregon. I’ve been creating and producing music, and working with and encouraging young people for over 20 years, but today, I am trying to use that experience to create something so great and awesome that we may land in the history books. I have formed a program that doesn’t just offer a leg up; it sincerely creates hope and brings incredible happiness to some of these folks. Beats4Books is a registered nonprofit corporation aimed at lowering the high school dropout rate across America by offering musical opportunities in exchange for a commitment to improved grades and attendance. Currently there are 7000 young people dropping out every school day, and the aim of this program is lower the dropout rate, encourage re-enrolments for current “drop-outs” and ultimately raise the percentage of Americans who graduate! Studies have shown that lowering the dropout rate by just 10% could save up to 3000 murders and 245,000 aggravated assaults each year as well as a host of other financial and social benefits for our communities. Students who participate in the Beats4books program will receive personalized musical opportunities ranging from royalty-free instrumental tracks known as beats to studio recording time, free concert tickets or mentorship from established artists who they admire. Student's may pick out a new instruments and make a agreement to own the instrument. We have 1000 instrumental tracks that I have produced over the last 10 years and I am offering my music for use by the program. I am looking for other Beat Makers who would be willing to donate a few of their tracks to encourage and inspire students who are dedicated to their education. The beat maker will get all the credit. We could also use verses from well-established artists that can be donated as a “feature” track for a new artist. Any and all donations will give proper credit and recognition to those who created the music. We are a small nonprofit organization and we can use all the help we can get!
