Short on resources, Dust begun freestyling off his cellphone. Dust later went on to mix, produce, and engineer his first two mixtapes "Cellphone Krumpin' pt.1 & pt.2" in 2011. Reggie Sears later offered Dust some studio time and music career advice. "Hoagie" was released in June of 2012 as a result.
