I am a native Texan, a writer, reader, and aspiring adventurer. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from Texas A&M University, one of the nation’s highest ranked public universities. I am currently pursing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Emerson College. I am seeking a position that will give me the opportunity to write in a professional environment, specifically creating content. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of positions–from assistant to the editor at the premier journal of African diaspora arts and letters, Callaloo, to a property administrator for a property management company, to a sales associate, to receptionist for a variety of companies in different business sectors. Each position and atmosphere has presented unique challenges and the opportunity to develop new skills and improve existing talents. I have always possessed a passion for reading and writing. In both academic and professional environments, I have had the chance to leverage these skills in communication as well as in writing. In academia, the participation in workshops–though focusing on creative writing–has helped hone my writing and my editing skills. I have been able to apply my expertise in creating online content for Drinking in America, a blog focused on the alcohol industry for an employer. In addition, I have expanded my experience outside the typical creative arena through copywriting, proofreading, and editing of blog posts and memos for a company specializing in executive talent search. In the summer of 2015, I completed the Ad Club’s course in Creative Concepts, collaborating with graphic designers to create a spec rebrand for a local company and a campaign for a local nonprofit.
