Artwork’s always been ‘in the moment’ for me. Over the years I’ve taken every art class I could from the simple high school curricular to stained glass. No matter the material I’ve used, I’ve always been able to make it into something and quickly. For myself, it’s an outlet for stress, a way of self-expression and ultimately a way to communicate with my anxious mindset, amongst other things. I disapprove of censorship and hiding the realities of life. Often this reflects in my works. Metaphorically, if I sugarcoat any artwork, I do it with some awfully sour sugar.
My inspiration comes from many sources. Comics, gothic styles and paintings, emotions, realizations, the work of other artists, it’s a long list. Anything depicting macabre imagery or containing a bold, dark, style truly strikes my fancy. Otherwise I’m open to many art forms and styles, but everyone has favourites. In all reality, with art, I try to bring my ideas and imaginings to life. Into a physical existence, whether it be in the form of a character design on paper or as an abstract sculpture.
Creating is all I’ve ever wanted to do and it’s what I’ve always done. I’m determined to make that my calling in life.
