Artist's Statement "A point with a point" - A point is an element of basic visual design through which an image is formed. That image is connected to the thoughts of the painter. Since childhood I have been associated with Rickshaw Art which embodies the philosophy of the connection of points. We see one point connecting to the other creating a line. The same way the three primary colors create the color wheel. The color wheel in turn creates various tones through which beautiful images emerge. Bill-board, Truck Art and Rickshaw Art painters use enamel paints in their work. I still remember the time when I used the lid of enamel paints as a color palette. I have used my background and my deep rooted influences as an inspiration for these paintings. The method is the same - enamel lid and primary colors. Mohan Das was born in Hyderabad, Sindh in 1976. He has worked as a Cinema Board, Truck and Rickshaw painter with Ustad Bhola, Ustad Shamsheir, , Ustad Yameen, late Ustad Asghar Ali, Rickshaw painters and Sir Fatah Hale Poto in Hyderabad. He was inspired by the work of Ustad Latif, also a Rickshaw painter based in Karachi. He completed his BFA (hons) and MA (hons) in Fine Arts, with 1st division, in 1999 and 2002, respectively, from the University of Sindh. He has been affiliated with various institutes as a teacher, such as the County Cambridge School and College, Hyderabad and Khana-e-Farhang, Latifabad, for a total period of 10 years. At present, he is affiliated with IVS for Diploma classes and workshops while participating in many exhibitions and shows. In 2008, he received the special Sadequain Award and also received an award by the PNCA in 2010.
