Got the big interest for electronic/house music after hearing Rhythim is Rhythim - Strings of Life by Derrick May. Oslo´s house and rave scene had just started out, but grew fast in early 90-ies, and Morten Mortez became a regular. At the time Oslo had many old closed down fabric areas that became location for illegal party`s every weekend. A couple of years later he got his first two Technics 1210 turntables, started mixing vinyl and got some small gigs. In 1998 Morten Mortez became friends with Johan Inkfish member of the Swedish progressive house duo and record label named Inkfish, and at the time had released several tracks. Soon they became a group of friends that also where Oslo Dj´s. Trough contacts Johan Inkfish had in UK, they arranged Norwegian version of House Party concepts from UK, but also their own club concepts. In 2004 it had been some good and experience ritch years, and the group of friends started doing different things in and outside Oslo´s house scene. Morten Mortez had "kind" of a break to become a fully comitted father to his beautiful daughter Julie. But feeling the sound waves of house music where always present, as the turntables was in use every week. Late 2013 his daughter Julie started school and Morten Mortez started mixing every day again. First "vinyl only", but by 2014 updating to digital mixing equipment was a priority. A new mac, digital equipment for Dj´ing and to make electronic Music was in place. The spring 2014 and trough the summer and autumn electronic music once again occupied most of the time. Most of the days in i week I go through new releases for my Dj-set`s, self promoting using Twitter FB etc. And i have gotten equipment for producing music but that is in its early days been Dj-ing many years and now and then I do sound engineering work, either recording in studio or small concerts. As a Dj have been on a professional level since I started up again 2014 putting full days ++ into it. But being away from the scene for total 10 years have made it harder than I imagine it would be. I was Dj-ing semi pro and pro from 1998-2004.
