Paul Carmona: In his own words

It all started more or less about three years ago, I purchased my first DSLR in January 2012 a bottom of the range unit I picked up on clearance from some left over Christmas money. It pretty much never left the auto mode and was rarely used.

I then stumbled upon HDR photography – not really sure how or why but I came across this guy who was doing some really interesting images by the name of Trey Ratcliffe. At that point in my life I was really looking for an artistic avenue that I could explore – something I can call my own and so started my photography journey.

What started out as something I was doing to please myself and to give me some sort of self-worth had some unexpected results.

From the beginning until now I have met some really incredible people and have felt like I finally belong to something greater – I still shoot primarily for myself in essence but the sense of community I feel when I share my work makes all the dark days’ worth while. When everything goes right and you end up with a great image there is nothing more satisfying.

I’m not in this to make any money although that would be nice, I get by on what little I can save to keep me going but the relationships I have formed and the creative push that it has given me is truly worth more than money and far more rewarding than I ever expected.

What does the future hold? No idea but it’s been a fun ride so far…
