Who I am...
I am a Touring Musician, Production Artist, Reiki Master, Roadie, and Hospitality Crew Member. I love the outdoors and all it has to offer, be it cycling, snowboarding or hiking, my natural sense of curiosity has brought me down many different paths. From my career as a United States Marine, to Political Activist with Amnesty International and Greenpeace, to working Hospitality on Cruise ships. I’ve always taken the road less traveled. With 20+ years in both Advertising and Music, my experience is vast, and wearing multiple hats is unconventional in the ‘regular world’. But, most Artists, as you well know, don’t live within that paradigm.
What I’ve done...
Octaves Above 1994 – Present
I established Octaves Above as my umbrella company which encompasses my design work, recording, and touring. In the design world I have been fortunate to start from the ground up and see first-hand how technology and social media have influenced and altered what we do and how we can do it, this goes hand in hand with marketing myself as a musician as well as my time working in Ad Agencies for high profile clients such as; Burger King, Microsoft, and Nike, to name a few. The tools that I use most are InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Other programs I have in my arsenal are QuarkXPress, Dreamweaver, ProTools, Logic Pro X, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. I have been a subcontractor through Aquent, 24 Seven, and the Creative Group for companies that include; Deutsche, Russ Reid, 180LA, and The Integer Group, etc.…David Reed Watson
