Paul Hutchings is a musician, composer, and arranger from Doylestown Pennsylvania.
MUSICIAN
Paul has had over 12 years of experience as a musician, with almost a decade as a both a classical and jazz Trumpet player. Starting when he was 5, Paul received piano lessons until beginning the Trumpet at age 8. Throughout his middle and high school careers, he has picked up and had experience playing many instruments, including the French Horn, Trombone, Orchestral Percussion and Drum Set, as well as many other wind instruments. He has been a member of the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County for 6 years, and has traveled overseas to Europe on 2 tours, and was the winner of the 2015/2016 Concerto Competition. Paul has also been an active participant in many music competitions and festivals, including PMEA, National Trumpet Competition, and National Youth Orchestra of the United States. He has also won awards at jazz festivals around the Southeast Pennsylvania area and is a member of the local Cherry Lane Band. He currently studies Trumpet with Jay Webb.
COMPOSER
For the past 3 years, Paul has also begun to compose music in addition to performing it. He has composed music for his school television programs, as well as for student projects in the multimedia classes. He currently has 3 pieces in the process of being finished and will be submitted to the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award. In June of 2014, Paul attended the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in New York, where he was able to meet and learn from notable film composers such as Sean Callery, Mark Snow, and Ira Newborn. He also participated in the 4th International Film Music Competition in Zurich, and recorded the score for a 6-minute short film with a group of 20 musicians.
ARRANGER
Paul has also done several arrangements for both his school jazz band, local Cherry Lane Band, and for YOBC. His arrangements range from simple horn charts to transcriptions, to full orchestral orchestrations.…Paul Hutchings is a musician, composer, and arranger from Doylestown Pennsylvania.
