Hey, I am a musician who specialises in composition from Norway (although I spent all of my childhood growing up in Kenya!).
I am 19 years old and am currently the Musical Director and Composer for the Youth Theatre of Kenya. I grew up in Kenya and so I think my musical influences might be slightly on the unique side of things, given the inevitability of me combining those influences with typical, western musicians, for example The 1975, Jacob Collier, Japanese House, Lewis Capaldi, etc. I have also always been fascinated by musical theatre and film and that is typically where my passions lies so composers like Hans Zimmer and Tim Minchin have also heavily influenced my sound.
I have been lucky enough to work alongside the Youth Theatre of Kenya for four years now, allowing me to compose five musicals - one of which is being performed in London, summer 2020 - and two soundtracks to still plays. I have also written two musicals for the Outreach and Education programme based on Apple's movie 'The Elephant Queen', giving me the opportunity to work with film makers.
I love finding a unique sound or vibe, that's what I strive to do! I love experimenting with synthesis and sampling and also was an intern at one of the top studios in Kenya, where I further developed these skills. I also compose lyrics and what one might call mainstream music but I always try to add a little unique touch!
I have studied music for five years and music technology for two, meaning I have the abilities to compose music to a high standard as well as being able to produce and record the music I make to a high standard also!

BACKGROUND
Zwai plays high-energy marimba and percussion combining the traditional African music with modern pop, Afro Jazz and World music. Originally Zwai comes from Guguletu Township in Cape Town and grew up with the marimba music. He started playing at the age of 12 when he was involved in a music project at the local community centre. Since then he has been educated at The College of Music at The University of Cape Town and has played in a variety of bands with different styles.
For eight years Zwai was a member of the very successful marimba band, Abakhaya. They toured to France representing South African music in the FIFA World Cup of ’98, and have also played in Hong Kong, China, Seychelles and Holland. His most recent tour went to Japan where he performed with the well-acknowledged marimba band Phambili.
Conducting African music workshops is also part of Zwai’s work and it is something he has the opportunity to do both at home and abroad. He has taught at various schools and at the Lutheran Community Church in Philippi, and recently travelled to Singapore and Norway to conduct African music workshops.

Sudeshna Bhattacharya is a maestro musician in the rich tradition of North Indian classical music. Her instrument is the sarod which she studied under the biggest Sarod maestro in history, the legend Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Sudeshna had her first European tour in 1999 through Belgium, Switzerland, France, Sweden and Norway. This introduction to the public in Europe led to a ten-year contract with the Ministry of Culture in France.
