As a Nashville native raised in a family of singers, songwriters, and musicians, Sam Cannon speaks fluent music. After receiving a formal education in studio engineering at Nashville’s Blackbird Academy and film and video game scoring through Scorecraft Academy, studying under Michael Whittaker, Sam Cannon has quickly become the trusted composer for many. His natural abilities were first debuted when he was 5 as the drummer in his family band, Loaded Cannon, and by middle school, his sense of rhythm and groove spread to the digital world where he dove into producing and composing electronic music. After high school, Cannon’s passion for music, combined with his love of story—especially the beautiful details of setting—led him to pursue a career composing music for film, tv, and video games.
Cannon’s body of work includes musical scores for award-winning short films such as, “Muse” directed by Connor Rapp and “Borrowed Time” created by Tapeslate Productions, "Blind Faith" directed by Payton Maddox and Owen Caderet, as well as the short film, "Dating an Overthinker" by Tanner Peterson and Dayton Edwards, which is currently being shown at a variety of film festivals.
