I started my design career 23 years ago at The Sunday Times after graduating from Nottingham University. Whilst there, I gained my first taste of the fast paced atmosphere and turn around of editions involved in newspaper production. Surrounded by a like minded design team, I fully immersed myself in the creative elements of newspaper design and loved it. I was involved in every aspect of the production of the paper, working closely with editors, journalists, photographers and illustrators, developing ideas from inception through to final delivery, covering both hard news and features.
A move to Cardiff led me to Media Wales where for 14 years I enjoyed work as a Designer and Multi Media Desk Editor working on feature led stories and production. The way in which news is not only gathered but produced has changed considerably and the fluidity of the daily news presented in this new digital era is both exciting and challenging, and is one which I embrace fully in the evolving news industry, with, of course, my underlying creativity always in mind.
More recently, for the past year I’ve worked as lead designer on Swansea Life which I’m proud to say was recently awarded “UK Regional Magazine of the Year”.
I also work as a freelance graphic designer and currently publish a digital and print magazine in based in Cardigan, Your Local Crowd, promoting local, covering the counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
Working remotely or as part of a team in a shared office, I’m always looking for new and exciting design opportunities.
