Michael Palmer
When I was a small child, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield had a big influence on me musically and as a human being. Music was always coming from the windows of the apartment buildings that lined the alley I played in growing up in Kansas City.
At age fourteen, a friend of mind let me play his drum set. I learned timing or how to stay on the “one”. A few years later I got into the electric bass and eventually the acoustic bass after joining the big band. When I first picked up the electric bass I knew nothing about music theory, until I enrolled in the Charlie Parker Music Academy. There under the direction of Jazz guitarist Dennis Hurley I learned music theory.
I have been influenced and inspired by many musicians. Music has addressed every single emotion that a human being can have and it’s universal. I can’t see life without music.
