About our Church:

We are a small Christian church located in North Tacoma. Grace is part of the Evergreen Association of the American Baptist Churches. We are also a part of AWAB – Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists. We have a weekly Sunday service with attendance averaging around 30 people per service. Our services contain a blend of contemporary praise music and traditional hymn singing. We meet weekly for service on Sunday mornings at 10am, with services typically lasting around an hour.

About Grace Baptist music:

We currently have a praise band, consisting of guitars, drums, and keyboard. We sing praise music by many current artists, and consistently work on learning new songs to add to our repertoire. We have several talented musicians that provide special music on any given Sunday. With our close proximity to University of Puget Sound, our music ministry has supported many talented local musicians for over 50 years!

Job Requirements:

• Willingness to assist/collaborate in weekly music selection
• This will require regular rehearsals, dependent on music leadership team member schedules.
• Willingness to learn new music to help the Church grow in the direction we desire.
• Lead music during weekly service
• Provide lead vocals during our praise music, which is typically 3 praise songs and 1-2 hymns per week. Ability to harmonize as needed depending on the music selection.
• Finding a balance between new music and our existing repertoire and traditions.
• Proficiency on a primary accompanying instrument, preferably guitar or bass.
• Ability to improvise or adapt music selections at the last minute if needed.
• Plan and be available for special services such as Christmas Eve, Easter/Holy Week services.
• As available, provide special music for weddings and funerals. These services are optional and are paid an honorarium outside of the regular salary.
• Understand the importance of worship and the role of music in that experience.
• Able to make deadlines. Music selection for Sunday is due by Tuesday every week.
