The Role

• This is a contract role and you will not be directly employed by MotorTrend Group. You’ll be required to work through a third party agent called TCW.Rate: $27-30$/hr based on experience
• Hours: 40 hours a week.
• Must be able to work a hybrid schedule based in Los Angeles

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

The Assistant Editor (Freelance, Hourly, Temporary) will assist the Lead Assistant Editor in all aspects of post-production for MotorTrend Group – Original Programming content as well as other company video outlets (web, broadcast, etc). Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Responsible for ingesting and transcoding all footage for assigned shows
• Responsible for creating helpful stringouts for assembly & edit
• Create, prep, and organize projects for edit, following standards and guidelines set by the Lead Assistant
• Responsible for exporting and Q/C’ing sequences for finishing; color, sound, etc, as well as assembling upon return
• Understanding of post-production procedures including archiving, server organization, naming conventions, standard
• review/delivery specifications, etc
• Organizing finished projects for archiving
• Will sometimes be required to start editing a particular sequence for editor
• Aid in the integration of graphics within the edit when required

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not include supervising one or more employees where applicable.

Education/Experience:

• At least 2 years previous experience in video/television post-production, or equivalent education and experience

• FTP Clients and NLE systems

Equipment/Software Used:

• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Google Suite
• Mac OS

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to sit for a prolonged period of time and view a computer screen.
