Our client is a leading Bcorp certified responsible fashion brand, established in 2005, committed to sustainable and ethical fashion. With 13 stores across the South of England, they are dedicated to putting people and the planet first. As a multi-channel retailer, they offer ethically sourced beachwear, clothing, and accessories through their successful online platform, wholesale channels, and retail shops.

Position Overview:

As the Graphic Design Manager, you will report directly to the Founder and manage a team that includes a Graphic Designer and a Design Assistant (year-long placement student). You will lead the graphics team in producing high-quality, engaging visual marketing assets across all channels.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the graphics team to create engaging visual marketing print assets, ensuring a cohesive view across all channels.
  • Direct Mail Management: Manage and produce approximately 10 Direct Mail (DM) brochures per year, including print wrap design, page layouts, images, and copy content. Negotiate print costs and postage with external agencies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Ecommerce and Buying team to select appropriate products for each brochure, adapting to trading decisions on stock levels.
  • Creative Management: Oversee the creative direction of the bi-monthly editorial magazine and seasonal assets, including Point of Sale (POS) materials.
  • Photo Library Management: Manage the seasonal photo library, ensuring image quality (colour, resolution) and proper archiving of unused images.
  • Press and PR Lookbooks: Manage and produce seasonal Press and PR Lookbooks to enhance brand visibility.
  • Workflow Management: Allocate tasks to team members effectively, ensuring a clear understanding of time requirements and skill sets. Use Monday.com to manage workflows and deadlines.
  • Agency Coordination: Manage any external creative agency or freelance support as needed.
  • Communication: Be an accessible point of contact for the graphics team, welcoming feedback and process change requests.
  • Cost Management: Identify and manage cost efficiencies within the team.
  • Team Management: Monitor team attendance, manage the holiday calendar, and recruit new team members as necessary, including the intern.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Passion for Design: A candidate who lives and breathes graphic design, capable of bringing brand and product messages to life confidently.
  • Experience: Ideally, you will have managed teams in a retail environment, with demonstrable experience in delivering creative excellence on time and within budget.
  • Brochure Experience: Proven track record in producing Direct Mail, including brochures, and analyzing results with the wider team.
  • Education: B.A (Hons) in Graphic Design or a related subject.
  • Expertise: Experience gained from similar in-house and/or agency roles, with an excellent understanding of print production workflow.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to manage busy workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with a proactive and self-starting approach.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a start-up mentality are welcomed.
