Cinematographer, researcher, graphic artist & writer from Venezuela, specialized in film editing. I've dedicated my efforts to several projects in the cultural field as a content creator, mainly in the audiovisual area as a film editor: music videos, advertisements, political, social and ecological documentaries, campaigns and other products. I've also supported the technological upgrade of many organizations as an IT consultant, working for the mass adoption of Free Software alternatives. *** ### Some important considerations on film editing * The job of an editor includes **montage, basic audio and color correction**, as well as **basic video effects, transitions and graphic elements** like inserts, banners and text. An editor skilled in graphic design and animation could add more complex compositions of graphic motion in 2D and 3D, but that's another job and should be treated as that, in budget and schedule. * Film editing doesn't make miracles. If your raw footage is mistakenly recorded, sometimes even the most advanced technology and/or techniques will be insufficient to solve the problems. In such cases, please be aware of the intrinsic limitations of the work to be done. * I can use my limited time on our project either to build and improve meaningful, attractive video sequences, **or** to struggle against countless flaws in audio or image, with no guarantee of success. I cannot do **both**... at least not in a limited period, with limited resources. Please don't blame the goalkeeper if the whole team played wrong. * If problems in footage are mild, it could be possible to improve the state of the material, but it will be necessary to add more time/budget to the workflow, as this implies another phase of post-production. * Do you want it **fast**? Then I won't have time to make art, to think out interesting turns in narrative or try exceptional combinations of audio and video to make your film an outstanding product. That's the nature of the creative work. It's all about practical possibilities.
