I am a graphic designer with an eye for bold creativity and a fondness for dynamic storytelling! I'm Samuel, but you can just call me Sam! Growing up with an appreciation for creativity, I became a big fan of graphic design while volunteering as a missionary for the non-profit called Hard as Nails Ministries. Now, I'm nearly finished with my classes for my associate's degree in graphic design, and ready to bring my experience of promotional design and my love for action-packed storytelling for those that need my services.

Industry Experience

Education, Non-Profit Organization
    uniE621 Mott Community College - NJCAA Region 4 & 12 Wrestling Championship
During my Design Center II Course (DESN-205), the students involved would come up with designs to satisfy the needs of clients accepted by the faculty from both inside and outside of the college. One such project was formulating pieces and branding for the then upcoming NJCAA Region 4 & 12 Wrestling Championship, and which was being hosted on the Mott Community College Campus. My cover design was chosen among two fellow peers and was furthered to be used as the actual cover and the basis for the event’s branding, such as a T-shirt that removed a few details. I wanted to go for a worn, gym like appearance with an old- fashioned aesthetic to the type. graphicdesigner
uniE621 Mott Community College - DESN-212 Gdańsk Campaign
After completing the local campaign in the Design III course, the next and final project was to formulate, develop, and craft a new campaign, but for a foreign audience. On the list of provided locations and countries, I choose the city of Gdańsk, Poland. The message of the campaign was turning people working or living at the city’s large port to stand up against the importing of coal into the country through their large trade route. With Poland struggling with the amount of coal pollution already in the country, I wanted to make a statement that alternatives in energy be put in place and coal be phased out. I visualized these pieces through the gem, amber, which Gdańsk is the world capital of. graphicdesigner
uniE621 Mott Community College - DESN-212 OCD Campaign
In my Design III course (DESN-212), one of the projects tasked to complete was to build a campaign on an issue at the local level, to which I chose to focus on breaking down misconceptions and provide understanding of the symptoms of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Initially, I was interested in the imagery of the main posters/flyers to have the symptoms of OCD be portrayed as a wave crashing down on an individual. At some point, I came to conclusion of deciding to use an aquatic theme across all of the pieces, and extending to topics like anchors, lighthouses, and pirates. The color teal was also an import inclusion in this campaign, as it represents the disorder and could thus reflect who or what is being suppressed or afflicted. graphicdesigner
uniE621 Mott Community College - DESN-230 Article Project
During my time completing the Typography II (DESN-230) course at Mott Community College, one assignment found me taking a web article from a pre-chosen list and converting them into the style of a magazine article. These examples here show the attempt to balance different forms of type, imagery, and formatting to make a composition that resemble what one could find in a magazine. The article in question was about an experiment that explored whether cheese could be affected by sounds waves produced by music directly into cheese as it was aging and through a variety of different genres. graphicdesigner
uniE621 Scandinavian Cultural Fair - Scandinavian Posters
During the 2025 International Week put on by the International Institute of Mott Community College, the cultural fair, an event focusing on a particular region, was held, and Scandinavia was the focus. Made again on Canva Pro, the purpose of these posters was to provide some fun facts about specific locations within the subject region. These on display are just some examples but provide a strong look at the patterns in the posters’ design. Working hand-and-hand with the visuals of my flyers for the entire International Week, I again used a wooden plank wall with hanging picture frames as its aesthetics. In contrast, these pieces follow more of a realistic approach than the ones promoting the International Week. graphicdesigner
uniE621 International Week 2025 - Master and Event Flyer
During 2024 - 2025 academic year as the student aid for Mott Community College’s International Institute, one series of projects I had to work on was a series of flyers in promotion of the annual international week, a time of events to learn and gain better understanding of different locations and culture. These pieces were made with Canva Pro, starting with the master flyer, which is shown up top, and was partially based off framed pictures hanging on wall, in an attempt to emulate what I thought would represent the look of Scandinavian interior design as Northern Europe was the theme for this particular year. As the design was taking shape, I used some of the elements from this master flyer and let that become the outline and structure for the additional flyers that went into more detail for each event during this week. graphicdesigner
uniE621 Mott Community College - MCC Registration Assistance Event
To assist non-native students on campus and make sure they are set up for success with getting their classes scheduled, I was task as the student aid of the International Institute to make a flyer to promote this. Made with Canva Pro and more closely following Mott’s own branding, this flyer ending being reflective of the college through its colors and academics through the signed dotted line in its aesthetic. The meat of text was presented to me in a “What”, “Who”, etc. style, and I stuck with and can see looking back that they act as their own bullet points to each section graphicdesigner
uniE621 Global and Community Engaged Learning - Annual Report 2023-2024
As the student aid for Mott Community College’s International Institute and Experiential Learning during the 2023-2024 academic year, one task was putting out a new edition of their annual report that recaps and shares experiences of recent events. I accomplished this project by taking the previous annual report and updated it inside of Adobe InDesign through adding many new photos, text, and triangular graphics. graphicdesigner
