paper Original Score Composer – Kalkidane (a film by Hugo Lemant)

I composed and directed the original score for the documentary feature Kalkidane, directed by Hugo Lemant. This intimate film follows the journey of Kalkidane, a young woman of Ethiopian origin, who travels to Ethiopia to meet her biological father after reconnecting with him through social media. Accompanied by her adoptive family and her filmmaker brother, she explores her roots and questions her identity.

My composition was crafted to accompany this emotional journey, creating an immersive sonic atmosphere that supports the film’s visual storytelling. In close collaboration with the production team, I developed a score that reflects the personal and cultural themes of the narrative.

The film was broadcast in France on the platforms FranceTV Slash and TV5Monde, reaching a wide audience. It was also selected and showcased at several international festivals, including the Vancouver International Black Film Festival and the Calgary Black Film Festival, where it had its Canadian premiere. Moreover, the film received significant media coverage, notably through an article published by Konbini, a well-known media outlet in France.

The original score was recorded with a constant focus on sound quality, ensuring it met the artistic demands of the project and contributed to the film’s unique sonic identity.

paper Original Score Composer – Links of Life (a film by Marie-Hélène Roux)

I composed the original score for Links of Life, a feature film by Marie-Hélène Roux. Set in the majestic landscapes of Yosemite National Park (USA), this intimate and poetic drama explores invisible connections between people, blending themes of nature, grief, and emotional legacy.

The score was conceived as an emotional extension of the visuals—subtle, immersive, and deeply attuned to the characters’ inner journeys. Blending acoustic textures and ambient layers, the music was carefully crafted to reflect the film’s poetic intensity and emotional fragility, while respecting its unique rhythm and atmosphere.

This project was both demanding and deeply inspiring, offering an opportunity to serve a cinematic narrative that is both personal and universal.

paper Original Score Composer – Muganga (Biopic on Dr. Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2018)

I was responsible for composing and directing the original score for Muganga, a feature-length biopic depicting the life and work of Dr. Denis Mukwege, Congolese gynecologist and recipient of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize. The film highlights his lifelong fight against sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo and his unwavering commitment to human dignity.

The score blends orchestral depth with emotional sensitivity, designed to support the film’s powerful narrative and human complexity. It was recorded in Belgium with a professional orchestra, under my artistic supervision.

Muganga is an international co-production supported by Canal+, France Télévisions, and the CNC (Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée), reflecting its artistic ambition and global resonance.

The film is currently in official competition at the 2025 Festival du Film Francophone d’Angoulême and will be released in cinemas on September 24, 2025.

This project gave me the opportunity to bring music into service of a deeply meaningful story, adding a sonic dimension that honors the strength and humanity of one of the most inspiring figures of our time.
