Job Description
The New York Post is heading West with the opening of a brand-new newsroom in Los Angeles, called The California Post. This initiative is aimed at providing powerful, agenda-setting journalism and bringing a fresh voice to California. The California Post is seeking a talented and creative Sports Social Content Creator to join its social team, focusing on engaging a sports-obsessed audience through various digital platforms.
Job Responsibilities
+ Package and publish content for California Post Sports social media accounts across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, and more.
+ Create short-form vertical videos, memes, graphics, and other engagement-focused posts.
+ Appear on camera and deliver sports news content clearly and concisely on deadline.
+ Film, edit, and produce video content from live sporting events, interviews, and in-house programming for social distribution, ensuring alignment with platform-specific best practices.
+ Pitch and execute timely, newsworthy, and trending content ideas.
+ Manage the lifecycle of a story, from pitch to production to social distribution.
+ Engage with fans on Sports social accounts by replying to comments across platforms.
Requirements
+ At least three years of content creation experience, focusing on multimedia content across digital platforms.
+ Proficiency in video and photo editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, CapCut, Canva) with a portfolio showcasing high-quality editing.
+ Strong news judgment, excellent writing, and copy-editing skills for accuracy and clarity.
+ Up-to-date knowledge of social media trends and best practices, with the ability to quickly adapt strategies to maximize audience engagement.
+ Experience managing social media accounts with large followings, focusing on growth and engagement through thoughtful content.
+ Exceptional multitasking abilities with the capacity to prioritize effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
+ Passionate about sports, with a deep understanding of current trends and insights relevant to enhancing content appeal.
+ Ability to balance editorial standards while producing engaging, informative social-first content.
+ SEO experience is a plus.
Additional Information
This position requires on-site reporting 5 days per week. The pay range for this role is $75,000 - $80,000.
