Job Description:

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is offering a full-time, paid temporary appointment for an Illustrator to join the Bartels Science Illustration Program for up to one year. The role involves working on various projects that support the Lab’s mission, collaborating with different departments, and creating artwork to communicate research to the public.

Requirements:

• Associate’s degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Ability to deliver work on schedule and incorporate feedback
• Biological accuracy in illustrations
• Willingness to work on a variety of projects
• Respect for diversity and inclusion in the workplace
• Certification in scientific illustration or related field preferred
• Passion for ornithological art
• Experience in drawing and painting birds in various mediums
• Interest in science and science communication
• Ability to work on-site at the Cornell Lab
