Dominique Lewis Stage name Smeegle Hype was born on the 13th day of January nineteen eighty five(1985), where he spent his childhood in the community of Top Range Mountain View. It is in this community he acquired his love for music. He would entertain his family members on his grandmother's patio by performing some of his favourite songs to the delight of his audience. My whole life is music, it fits my mood, keeps me motivated and is a part of me. I’ve been Dj’ing for 3 year now and producing music for 1 year.
I cant put into words the feeling of making hundreds of people go nuts for music that you’ve created…that’s my passion, my high, my goal! To not play music that I like for people, but to also make there night more enjoyable by creating a positive vibe.
My style of choice is progressive and top 40 remixes, something the people can recognize but with a better and up beat melody. It took me a long time to get here… My first “gig” was me on a table with nothing but a laptop at a camp fire using a free DJ software.
After that, I started playing for free parties and gaining experience. Later, a year into my journey I got my chance at Spice Lounge Night club in Nanaimo for a 45 minute set. If I brought 10 people I might get 50$, from there more clubs came along until I landed my first residency at the Avalanche Bar in Courtney. After 6 months of that I signed myself over to Club 241 in Nanaimo, for a 3 month residency before the bar closed down for good.
When it comes to my music I have something for everyone, and if you ask me, music isn’t going anywhere, so you may as well take a listen and find the style you enjoy.
If there’s one thing that this journey has taught me, it’s to never compromise my style for anyone. To find your name…. and do…YOU…Progressive/Trance/Electro
