I started out visualizing and storyboarding in house for a couple of ad agencies in London and Hong Kong while illustrating books on the side.
That got me laser focused on finding the key point to any scene, and conveying it convincingly and with emotional appeal.

Then I spent 8 years in Los Angeles freelancing for production companies and more ad agencies working on more commercials, tv shows and films. My lifelong interest in animation started to take hold.
I became efficient and fast, although as time went by I was working remotely more and more as the pace of vehicle traffic on the roads slowed to a crawl.
So now I work entirely remotely from my home in Santa Fe, NM where it is possible to drive faster than a walking pace. This is where I animate, illustrate, create motion graphics, draw storyboards and all sorts of other fun things to my heart's content.

I am a 1988 graduate of Pratt Institute (BFA). I'm an award winning illustrator with close to 38 years of professional experience. I work traditionally (pen and ink on paper, acrylic on canvas board, acrylic/ink on paper) and I work in a variety of styles and can handle a variety of jobs/topics. I wrote and illustrated two graphic novels, both for NBM Publishing (Vatican Hustle, 2009, and Elephant Man, 2010) and I wrote two books on illustration for The Monacelli Press/Phaedon Books (Illustration That Works, 2015, and Understanding caricature, 2021).
