Ever since I can remember my attention has been drawn to the way people build environments, be it in movies or video games. I am a massive gamer myself, but I need to admit - I suck at gameplay. Hours and hours of my life were spent on running around beautiful worlds of Skyrim or Azeroth, looking at every little detail, examining every nook and cranny, hardly ever finishing the main story line.
My interest in art led me to the most obvious choice of education - in 2003, at the age of 17, I enrolled with the College of Fine Arts in Gdynia, Poland. I spent the next four years taking classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, design, woodcarving, ceramics, metallurgy, and art history. After the four years had passed, I graduated with a diploma in ceramics.
After the College I enrolled with the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland where I studied in the department of Sculpture and Intermedia, building natural size human portraits, taking classes in drawing and painting, various sculpting techniques, anatomy, and other visual forms such as video making. Although I loved what I did, there was something missing deep inside me which led me to quit the Academy after three years of studies.
I continued searching for my own path in life and my artistic career. Going through episodes of self-doubt that were sometimes making me think of abandoning art career altogether, getting back into it and doing odd jobs including painting murals in my friends and family houses, helping restore frescos in one of Gdansk cathedrals, jewellery making, casting resin figurines, designing posters, brochures and business cards for my family and friends, my path was chaotic and I did not really see a clear purpose in what I did.
Eventually I started working as a tattoo artist and pursued it professionally from 2013 to 2022.
After the events of 2020 and a bit too much free time on my hands I had an opportunity to rethink my life choices and get a good idea of what I actually want in life. I filled my schedule taking online courses in graphic design and concept art. This made me rediscover my love of painting and sculpture, I realised this was what gave me the most joy and sense of accomplishment. When I went back to work as a tattooist, I could not feel the chemistry in it anymore. This resulted in me closing down my tattoo shop at the end of march 2022 and focusing entirely on building portfolio for game design and concept art.
All this lead me to this day at the end of 2022, re-learning how to paint, learning new skills in 3D modelling, workflow and presentation, creating things I had never thought possible for me to create.
