For over 15 years, I have been working in television production and post production for networks like FOX, CBS, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and MSNBC. My home editing platform is Adobe Creative Suite and I am able to work fully remote. On-site work is possible in the Washington, DC Metro Area. Video Editor - Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer Freelance – 2018 - Current My contract work has been on three fronts: re-versioning editor for Discovery Channel (see Jr. Editor below for description), short-form educational/corporate videos, and social media content editor. Clients can send me footage online or via hard drive where I craft custom content with music and graphics as needed using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Audition. When working with Discovery, I worked by remote logging into a local computer on their campus and edited with Avid. Junior Editor – Avid Media Composer Discovery Communications – 2015 - 2018 Primarily, I was a re-versioning editor. I took US and UK television content across a variety of networks/genres and edit it for air in Asia, India, and Latin America. This involves re-cutting to a new edit clock, as well as blurring, bleeping, and editing out content to comply with specific cultural sensitivity issues in the given region. Junior Editor - Final Cut Pro 7 National Geographic – 2014 - 2015 I was responsible for ingesting, organizing, and syncing raw footage, as well as editing rough cuts for lead editors. Urban Jungle and She Wolf were nature documentaries, while Star Talk was primarily shot in a studio environment with 1 stationary camera, 3 mobile cameras, and multiple lavaliere microphones that had to be synced for the editor. Assistant Editor – Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro 7 National Geographic – 2010 - 2014 I was responsible for ingesting, organizing, and syncing the footage as well as editing rough cuts for lead editors. Some shows also required extensive audio and video edits for content, i.e. bleeping and blurring. All shows needed to be prepped for online editing once the offline was complete. This meant stripping the temporary effects and titles, as well as organizing and splitting the audio tracks before sending all needed files to post production. Once online editing was complete, I’d marry all of these items back together and check for quality control before delivery to the network.
