My name is Lauren Miller, and I am an Illustrator who’s working out of Michigan. I’ve obtained my Bachelor's degree at College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan with a major in Illustration and a minor in Game Design. I have done various styles of digital Illustration for commissions and internships throughout the start of my creative career. I’ve done commissions and work for various clients including CASCO USA, RaeComics and the Detroit Pistons. The work I’ve done includes environments, assets, characters, clothing designs, and typography. This includes both items in the 2D and 3D fields. In addition, I’ve done various personal commissions with work gearing towards stylistic portraiture. The majority of my work focuses on concept art for the Game and Comic industries. My work brings stories to life in an illustrative and detailed manner. The intent behind my projects is to work from earthly reference and adapt it into an unearthly interpretation of fantastical worlds that can be seen in forms of entertainment such as video games, books and film. From my work you can expect to see worlds I have created from references and research that I often gather from real locations of abandonment and decay. Additional references I sometimes create through 3D modeling. Through stages of thumbnails, color studies, and reideation, I develop work that can lead the viewer to a place of fantasy or magic that can’t be see in our present world. This often comes with the idea that my concept work can be build upon in later stages of the development process and used for larger endeavors.

    uniE621 World Food Spot Illustrations
A simple series of spot illustrations I did to capture foods from two countries, Japan & France. In addition I captured well known animals from those countries to accompany the food. The intent behind these is that they can be used for simple things such as stickers, patterns, and other forms of branding.
    uniE621 Houseplant Spot Illustrations
A simple series of spot illustrations I did to capture different houseplants. The intent behind these is that they can be used for simple things such as stickers, patterns, and other forms of branding.
    uniE621 Zodiac Spot Illustrations
A simple series of spot illustrations I did to capture each of the zodiac signs. The intent behind these is that they can be used for simple things such as stickers, patterns, and other forms of branding.
    uniE621 Modern Fashion Spread
A fashion spread I did recently in an attempt to study the flow of the body and structure of anatomical planes in preparation for a finished illustration. Referencing fashion brands such as Supreme and Gucci, I captured "The Wanted", the characters from my original comic, in current high end clothing.
    uniE621 Crew Beach Day
Wanting to tackle the use of complicated characters in comparison to simplified backgrounds, I made this piece showing "The Wanted" crew enjoying a day at the beach! It was important to try and capture each of their personalities through their poses as well as what they would wear in our modern era. In addition, I wanted to try and incorporate patterns into the clothing as well, which proved to be a fun challenge.
    uniE621 Klee Kai Exterior: Before
One of my more recent projects where I am further exploring the environments of "The Wanted." Through this I am portraying the before and after of multiple environments that are prominent in the world. The first of the series is the exterior of a Klee Kai Lab, which is the organization of government officials and scientists that created the biohazard monsters. This project was made through ideation and gathering reference from an unnamed abandoned Chinese resort, I 3D modeled the lab's exterior and painted overtop of it. Taking inspiration from concept art in the gaming industry, I tackled doing line drawings, adding value to them, as well as rendering in a lineless style that is more on the realistic side.

    uniE621 Home
Taking inspiration from the form of an octopus, I was able to make out the shapes of a shoe. Illustrating just a show seemed boring to me, so I turned it into a house. From there I envisioned the idea of a cottage core aesthetic alongside little mice in the woods. Going along with the idea of a illustration fit for a children's book, I tackled this piece of art with warm colors and the idea of home. I wanted to show a little mouse that had gone on an adventure returning home to his parents, and overall having a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is unlike a lot of my other work.
