His Bildungsroman (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Arrangement)
This piece follows a boy fascinated by stars as he goes through the 4 stages of a Bildungsroman.
Stage 1: The Call
Just like the lyrics of the original song ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’, the boy is intrigued with the stars in the sky and yearns to learn more about them. This yearning is portrayed by the dreamy glockenspiel as well as the warm strings accompanying the main motif (the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star).
Stage 2: The Apprenticeship
The boy aspires to be an astrophysicist to learn more about the stars but soon realizes the journey is not as easy as it seems. The struggles he encounters during his course of study is embodied by the sonorous ensemble as parts become more cacophonic. The Aeolian mode was employed in this section because of its dark quality, echoing the boy’s despair as he verges on giving up.
Stage 3: Maturity
The piece quietens briefly for a bass guitar solo playing the main motif to represent a time for contemplation rather than action. This contrasts with the glockenspiel in the opening to show the boy’s maturity into a young adult. However, he keeps his reason for pursuing this route in mind and presses on. To reflect the boy’s change in maturity while retaining his original motivations, the fast section is revisited in the victorious Dorian mode as opposed to the earlier Aeolian mode.
Stage 4: Acceptance
The now young man has persevered over his struggles in his journey. Having completed his studies, theyoung man returns to his childhood fascination of the stars. This is depicted by the main motif being played in reverse but still accompanied by the lush strings from the beginning of the piece. What began as a motif at the beginning has also evolved into a full melody played by the whole ensemble to show the completion of his bildungsroman, his journey from boy to man. Part 2: Be The Sunshine On A Gloomy Day
The detective has been assigned a new partner to help him with this case who had been working on the case from the same city that the murderer escaped from. The detective did not take too well to his new partner at first, but she quickly warmed up to him and showed him the brighter side of things.
Like a Disney song, this clarinet feature depicts her dancing about the city and telling him about being optimistic no matter the circumstances. "If the clouds are dark, then be the sunshine on a gloomy day". Her happy dancing and funny impressions moved him, and the piece ends with the detective finally accepting her philosophy and she dances happily on the side. #music #instrumental #master…A musical story told in 5 parts. Before he could call for backup, a soft drink can narrowly misses him as he looks up to find the masked murderer laughing at him over a voice changer before quickly taking off.
(Piece begins) The detective gives chase but quickly finds himself falling for the murderer’s traps and illusions. She taunts him relentlessly as he tries desperately to follow her footsteps and keep up. The piece ends with a climax when the detective falls for the biggest trap and gets himself tangled up while the criminal dances around and laughs demonically (as represented by the shredding soprano saxophone) before disappearing into the dark, leaving the detective wondering who she is. #music #instrumental #master…A musical story told in 5 parts.
