Emma Most is an emerging composer and sound designer based in Los Angeles, who is passionate about crafting musical narrative through multimedia collaborations. Versatility and creativity drive Emma’s work for both visual media as well as concert music. She has collaborated with filmmakers and animators who hail from the likes of Rochester Institute of Technology, California Institute of the Arts, and Los Angeles Film School writing music and creating sound design for short films of various genres. Emma is currently working as a composer on a mod of the popular video game Fallout in addition to her other freelance projects. She is also regularly commissioned for original concert works and arrangements, and has an ongoing visual media project of writing original music for artwork and videos of artwork in progress. An avid musician, Emma grew up in a musical family and started playing the piano and composing from an early age. She received her bachelor of music degree in composition from The Master’s University in 2021, studying under Grant Fonda, Gary Kuo, and Ben Mason. During her time there she was part of several performing ensembles including the The Master’s Chorale, with which she performed on several albums and collaborated with renowned artists Keith Getty and Matt Redman. Emma recently received her master of music in contemporary media & film composition from the Beal Institute at the Eastman School of Music, a two-year master of music degree program begun by Jeff and Joan Beal, and led by Mark Watters and Dave Rivello. While at Eastman, Emma regularly conducted, produced, and recorded original compositions for film, and had the opportunity to present and conduct 4 original works in a live-to-picture concert. She additionally gained valuable experience creating mockups, mixing and mastering, and integrating music and sound design into video games. Emma is currently part of the Eastman West residency, a one year program begun by Jeff and Joan Beal to help transition postgraduates from the Beal Institute to the industry in Los Angeles. Emma’s interest in musical storytelling has also led her to teaching. She completed the TMU Piano Kids Internship as a student teacher for beginning piano students, and she offers private piano and composition lessons virtually and in the greater Los Angeles area. A native to Southwest Colorado, Emma enjoys hiking mountain trails, drinking coffee, creating her own artwork, playing games with family and friends, drinking more coffee, and watching movies in her free time. Some of her all time favorites include Harry Potter, Star Wars, How to Train Your Dragon, The Dark Knight, Hook, La La Land, and The Holiday.
