I view art as a language. It is a visual form of communication that takes time and hard work to master. Just as in other languages, it can be used to express anything a person wishes to convey, such as joy, anger, humor, or history. Art has become an integral part of everyday life. From logos to fashion, films and books; even architecture falls under the umbrella of art. In my own art practice, I strive to achieve a sense of wonder and fantasy. My work often falls into the realm of surrealism, combining elements of nature or exaggerating the natural world. My work is whimsical, a taste of my personal view of what is beautiful, peaceful, joyous or safe. I strive to create work that elicits a quiet wonder and a spark of something magical in the heart of the viewer. I want them to remember the dreams they had in childhood, the stories they created, and their view of the natural world. My work strives to reconnect with the initial awe one feels when experiencing nature for the first time. The creativity, freedom and wildness of childhood is still present inside all of us should we choose to awaken it.
