I’m a freelance artist and illustrator originally from Jamaica, now based in Sydney, Australia. With 15 years experience in the industry, I have gained international recognition as one of the leading proponents of Jamaican visual culture. My work explores broader themes of cultural identity and place, especially as it overlaps with music, dance and creative expression. I specialise in creating eye-catching visual content for music and dance brands around the world. I love injecting a healthy dose of tropical flavours with added dancehall spice to my projects. I work closely with Jamaican dance communities both on the island of Jamaica and worldwide, documenting a 50 year period of Jamaican dance using the mediums of painting, surface design, animation, installation and print media. I’ve participated in major group exhibitions held in galleries and art festivals across the world including The Kennedy Center, Washington DC, the Puma headquarters for the 2012 London Olympics, The National Gallery of Jamaica and National Gallery West, The Museum of Latin American Art in Los Angeles, Art Basel in Miami, Vivid Sydney, Art Space in Auckland, NZ and many more. I’ve been lucky enough to work across the industry with a selection of both large and small brands ranging from record companies to clothing brands to independent DJs and choreographers. My work covers a diverse range of projects relating to the dance and music industries such as album artwork; animated lyric videos and visualisers; visual content for album, tour and brand campaigns; logo and branding work; surface and clothing design and gig & tour poster artwork. First Impression Matters. Your album artwork is a reflection of your style and story, every bit as much as your music. I can’t speak for other consumers but personally when I’m searching for new music I click on album covers that look interesting to me, and I skip over other titles that aren’t as visually appealing. I’m sure I’ve missed out on some great music because of it, but that’s just the way it goes. I visually choose what I want to hear (like most other listeners). My name is Atul and I help artist sell more albums by helping them tell their stories better to their audience and connect with them in an authentic and human way. I'm all about #artwork #graphicdesign #albumcoverdesign #illustration and #animation
