The inspiration from my artwork is drawn from a variety of sources. My subjects could be nature and the external world, just as often as it might be fantasy or the abstract. I like to explore the narrative and symbolic nature of art, which is why I was drawn into Illustration. The ability of the visual art form to convey a message, a mood, or an idea through a line, or a color or a simple arrangement of space is fascinating to me. Some of my work conveys a narrative within the work, and are based on known stories and stories of my own creation. My experiences as an art educator has influenced me as well, giving me an even greater appreciation of different perspectives in both fine and popular art. I use a variety of methods and processes determined by the subject or the content of the design I am producing. The creation of a logo or character design may be best facilitated through digital media in some cases, while a detailed still life may be best conveyed in paints. My media choice usually coincides with my overall vision for a design. Regardless of the media type, I endeavor to maintain my visual style, which is based in activity and stylization.
