I am a passionate composer with a keen interest in film and video game scores. I love to experiment with new sounds and will create anything from a traditional sounding orchestral score to a modern mix of synthesized instruments. Most recently I worked on a video game project called "In My Defence". The aim of the game was to control a space ship and defend the base from an alien attack. This was a 2D retro style game but the creator asked for a modern sound. The brief was to create something action packed that could play in the background. I was part of a team of composers each tasked to create their own piece for the game. Mine required a slight wintry feel which I achieved using a glockenspiel and choral samples to introduce the piece, before adding the upbeat sections to get the action going. The games creator was very happy with the piece and said "James did a great job creating the song. It exceeded my expectations. I give James my highest recommendation! " Other previous projects include film and video game music. The last film I worked on was entitled "Out Of Sight, Out Of My Mind". This particular film was about the potential dangers of smart technology and required a modern score with a mix of minimalist and intense music. I worked very closely with the film's creator to create the score he wanted to bring his vision to life. In this case the score consisted of 4 pieces, 2 of which were solo piano pieces. The others were primarily composed using synthesizers but also included a selection of orchestral percussion and stringed instruments.
