Lael showed interested in the creative arts, animation, music, and puppetry her whole life. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, for 18 years, Lael moved down south to North Carolina with her family. She attended Regent University where she earned a BA in Animation focusing on Character Design and illustration. Her specialties are in character and prop design, illustration, cartooning, portrait drawing, caricatures, 2D animation, traditional hand-drawn animation, paper and clay sculpting, and still life. Lael has experience in many Adobe programs such as Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, Premiere Pro, as well as couple years experience in Da Vinci Resolve and Autodesk Maya 2018. When Lael isn't drawing, she spends her free time practicing puppetry, voice acting, and a few instruments such as the drums, ukulele, and piano. Lael's art career began in 2017 while still attending college. Her first ever art/animation job was as a freelance prop designer for the christian broadcasting network's animated TV show "Superbook", and earned official screen credit as a concept artist. during her time at cbn, she networked with many artists and animators who've worked at disney, dreamworks, nickelodeon, big Idea inc, reel fx, and sony pictures animation. in 2019, she began an internship with whro public media (affiliated with pbs) in norfolk, virginia, where she worked as a character designer for an unannounced animated TV series. shortly after the internship, Lael was promoted to lead character designer of the show. whro then partnered with the animation students from regent university to help work on the show. during this time, Lael created art assets for the show's pilot, art directed the students to ensure show's chosen art style, and gave notes and feedback to students' turn around sheets. unfortunately, the production of the show was put on hold due to the covid-19 pandemic. today, lael Currently work as a full-time freelancer, pursuing work in children's book illustrations, portrait commissions, T-shirt and logo design. Lael participated in two Pixar Animation masterclasses with artists, Matthew Luhn, Ricky Nierva, and animator Andrew Gordon (2013 & 2015) held by VanArts, attended a 2-day online character design masterclass with Artist Sylvia Bull of aardman animations, and have participated in Artist alley tables. As a Christian, lael's desire is to glorify God through her creations, and to demonstrate His love and mercy to those who have yet to discover His truth. Lael aspires to start her own multimedia company long-term where she would combine 2D & 3D animation and puppetry in various types of projects. Lael is hopeful for the future of her career., and is now happily married to the love of her life. She and her husband currently reside in forest, Virginia. The happy couple are additionally in the works of some personal projects they hope to release to the public soon.
