"I did my first open mic when I was about 18. It was at the Wardrobe in Leeds. My brother took me, because there was a scout there from The Voice, and he was like “You should go”. The scout told me to audition, but I never went. I don’t really want to go down that path into the industry. I’d feel like I was selling myself out. I’d rather do it myself. It’s more genuine that way, I feel. Open mics are a good way of getting performance experience and it’s nice to be around people who are like minded. Music can change your life. It’s changing mine. I’m becoming my own person through music.”
