3D Animator is needed in Austin, United States.

A capable Lead Animator is needed by Rooster Teeth Animation to join the team. Under the direction of the Animation Director and Supervisor, the function entails giving advice, criticism, and technical comments to other animators. Additionally, this position will help with the research and development of rigs and other animation tools in addition to animating for a variety of 3D material. Along with a résumé outlining any relevant expertise, applicants should include a link to their reel.

Duties:

• Use Maya to create keyframe and motion capture animation while following instructions.
• Test character rigs and make suggestions for improvements.
• Make character libraries and cycles
• Define and communicate new character movement and performance styles
• Motivate the animation team and serve as a role model for younger artists by working with the animation director and supervisor to comprehend the style of shows and be able to transmit those notions to the team.
• Understand the assignment’s scope and schedule, and update others on your progress.
• Assist new hires with their onboarding.
• Anticipate potential technical, procedural, or scheduling challenges and offer solutions.
• Work on streamlining the workflow and pipeline procedures.
• Aid in the documenting of departmental processes
• Participate in group discussions and online chats.
• Participate as a performer in motion capture shooting.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience working in a production setting
• Extensive knowledge of Autodesk Maya required, Shotgun Studio and Adobe Creative Cloud experience are plusses.
• Strong storytelling visual sense (emphasis on character performance, fight choreography, shot composition, and timing)
• Strong familiarity with the fundamentals of animation
• Strong leadership qualities and a drive to succeed on their own will enable the team finish projects on time.
• Effective teamwork and familiarity with remote collaboration
• Motion capture prior experience is a plus.
