University of Cambridge: Millennium Maths Project (MMP) Web Developer United Kingdom

Web Developer

Web Developer is needed in United Kingdom.

Fixed Term Contract

The MMP is a public outreach and math education programme for people of all ages, from three to nineteen. It has a national and worldwide presence and is housed in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP). The MMP’s goals include fostering innovative and imaginative approaches to arithmetic while also fostering greater mathematical understanding, confidence, and enjoyment.

Successful Candidate is accountable for the support and upkeep of the project websites, as well as for discovering, recommending, and creating technological solutions to meet user and content development teams’ demands. The chosen candidate will be proactive and inventive in finding and putting into practise fixes for technical problems.

The capacity to communicate concerns and prospective development choices to non-technical members of the project team is a crucial component of the function. In order to determine what objectives and outputs are required to guide the development of the sites, the position holder will need to consult with colleagues in content creation about their thoughts and requirements. Working closely with the project team to create content for each website, the post holder also coordinates with the Faculty of Mathematics IT team to handle and discuss technical issues as well as server hosting and infrastructure concerns. The position requires a lot of solo effort, but it’s also crucial to have solid communication and teamwork abilities.

The chosen candidate will have expertise using GIT version control, Drupal (installation, customising, and maintaining), PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and stakeholder interaction through web technologies. It would be ideal if the candidate has an interest in outreach, public involvement, or expanding participation.

Although the position is full-time, we encourage applicants who are open to flexible, part-time scheduling to submit their applications.
