Programmer: We are looking for an experienced arts professional to work on a new and exciting events programme. You will be starting this project from the development stage, using research and evidence to support your programming choices, identifying our audience and potential areas and genres we should be focussing on before creating an initial program and associated business plan.

SOME OF THE MAIN THINGS YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Establish one of our studios spaces as a regular venue with a mixed live events programme, including a range of music and performance
• Carry out research and collate useful data. Conduct initial research including: existing events in the local area and region, current audience demographic and potential areas to develop; potential income from different areas of programming; ticket pricing options
• Work creatively and collaboratively to devise the programme and establish its potential shape and the networks needed for it to grow and flourish
• Create a business model for the venue that demonstrates financial viability including: net box office income and secondary bar spend margin, and direct event costs; artists fees, travel, PRS, tech and FOH, and the potential impact of different types of events.
• Work in collaboration with the Creative Director and other stakeholders to ensure there is cohesion across teams, and workstreams This list can never be exhaustive but covers most of the work you’ll be doing.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
• Demonstrable experience working in a similar role
• Pre-existing relationships within the music industry - especially booking agents & managers.
• Highly analytical with an ability to make decisions based on research and evidence
• Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets
• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to multitask, problem-solve, work to deadlines and prioritise workload
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrable ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
• Willingness and ability to work outside of standard office hours
• Accurate with a good eye for detail.
• Commitment to work hard and act in Dartington’s best interests at all times.
