This camp specializes in providing enrichment instruction in Media Design/Visual Arts areas including Computer Anime Desgin to students in grades 5th-7th. (Tuesdays & Thursdays, June 5th-July 21st).

The purpose of this role is to provide highly responsible, facilitative, and creative instruction of enrichment, specialty, and developmental learning activities within a classroom setting for our Media Design/Visual Arts Summer Camp.
This role is responsible for enthusiastically engaging 5th-7th grade students by facilitating lessons, hands-on projects, and activities with an Anime Character Design focus which may require outdoor activities at times.
Instructors must demonstrate at least an intermediate level of Animation, classroom management, and curriculum development. Experience facilitating youth enrichment, specialty, and/or development classes in Computer Programming and Media Design/Visual Arts is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a curriculum that covers major literary devices used in anime, examples of such devices, the development of student created anime characters, and a and a culminating creative anime project
- Facilitate weekly lesson plans, projects, and class routines for assigned student group
- Design and instruct a variety of activities that are grade-level specific and appropriate in addition to general Artportunity Knocks plans
- Develop studentsā enrichment and/or talents by creating fun and exploratory experiences which will include constructing a final project to be presented at the close of the program (G_rand Finale Presentation_)
- Create lessons and designs utilizing the young talent within the summer program
- Assist with creative direction for Grand Finale Performances
- Implement appropriate behavior and classroom management techniques adhering to Artportunity Knocks (AK) Handbook policies and procedures, in accordance with the school/siteās Student Handbook policy guidelines (training provided)
- Facilitate and encourage student participation in activities
- Identify teachable moments and capitalize on them
- Ensure assigned student group is always supervised and safe
- Model good behavior for students as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, respect, and citizenship
- Work in a team environment; build and maintain proper workplace rapport with co-workers, students, and parents
- Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of students
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education - High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3+ years of experience supervising and working with children, preferably as an Afterschool Instructor, Coach or Teacher
- Must have Computer Animation instruction experience or skillset with the demonstrated ability to craft, organize, and lead lesson plans for 5th-7th grade students
- Proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards
- Organized, excellent interpersonal skills and works well in a team environment
- Must have a positive attitude and be a self-starter
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to pass a background check REQUIRED to work with children
- General mobility including, but not limited, to walking, running, bending, kneeling, and standing required for summer program activities
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
Preferred Qualiļ¬cations
- Bachelorās degree in Animation, Computer Animation, Digital Media Arts, Media Design, Graphic Design, Visual Art or related field
- Anime-style Computer Animation experience
- Experience in graphic design, video editing/compositing, and other multimedia design utilizing Adobe software (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, etc.)
- Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, or Procreate
- Experience with animation technologies such as rigging, state machines, physics ragdolls, inverse kinematics (IK), compression, facial animation, etc
- Extensive experience with one or more real-time animation middleware (e.g.: Havok Animation, Granny, Morpheme) or equivalent custom/in-house solutions
- Experience developing or working with animation blend graphs, real-time IK, animation compression, and/or advanced animation memory management
- Robust programming skills/experience in C++
