Job Summary

The role of Senior Art Director is to serve and execute exceptional creative thinking across any format. They are expected to to concept and execute creative ideas that answer client briefs with unexpected solutions. This person will lead by example—mentoring junior creatives, partnering with writers and collaborating across departments to develop and present creative ideas. They have an opinion on how they want their vision executed and are confident leading creative development from ideation to execution.

This role reports to the Creative Director and works closely in collaboration to ensure quality of all creative execution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to come up with ideas for brand social channels, video, influencer/creator-led content, and other digital content
  • Work directly with influencers and creators to brief them on concepts and video ideas in effort to bring them to life.
  • Provide art direction for the execution of brand assets across presentations, scripts, video treatments, owned social/digital platforms, influencer collaborations, creator briefs, paid and earned media
  • Design decks for new business and existing clients, making exceptional aesthetic choices in line with brand or template.
  • Develop mood boards, mockups, and production treatments to ensure creative vision is maintained throughout execution
  • Establish visual tone, character, and messages that will effectively communicate with the target audience and fulfill the project objectives
  • Develop and flex a brand’s visual identity across presentations, graphics, owned social/digital platforms, influencer collaborations, creator briefs, paid and earned media
  • Foster collaborative relationships with clients, production partners, and internal teams while remaining empathetic and open to feedback, finding smart solutions to support your creative vision
  • Support your concepts, designs, and layouts with clear rationale
  • Present ideas and deliverables to clients in a confident, concise, and thorough manner
  • Develop unique and interesting executions within the social media landscape and overarching digital space
  • Communicate to the client our creative perspective and processes
  • Manage multiple client briefs and deliverables simultaneously to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while inspiring and motivating both your creative teammates and clients
  • Build and design presentation decks for BHS marketing materials and client presentations
  • Mentor junior employees through close collaboration
  • Proactively seize the opportunity to create timely content against viral trends, and larger cultural moments

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Sr. Art Director may manage junior members of the creative and content teams.

Experience & Required Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in Art Direction and Design in an agency environment
  • BA/BS required (Graphic Design, Visual Arts or related field)
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (focusing on Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects)
  • Fluency in slide design in Google Slides, PowerPoint and/or Keynote
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and direction
  • Experience leading the art department on set
  • High design aesthetics and innate interest in typography and design
  • Team player and enthusiastic self-starter who is also extremely innovative, creative, professional and resourceful
  • Confident client presenter and storyteller
  • Knowledgeable about social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc.)
  • Maintains an original design aesthetic and visual principles that ensure exceptional work
  • Culturally switched-on thinker who pays attention to trends in technology, social content, and pop culture on and offline
  • Understanding of and desire to keep up to date with innovation, industry, and design trends as it pertains to social strategy and execution across photography, film, and animation
  • Ability to manage through a high level of ambiguity to actionable recommendations/solutions.
