As a Senior Production Designer (Temporary) within the CNN Design Group, your primary responsibility will be to create innovative and impactful designs for television and studio production, specifically for CNN programs, specials, and documentaries. You will be a motion generalist with expertise in 2D and 3D animation, contributing to the creative motion direction of key projects. Collaborating with the creative team and editorial partners, you will develop concepts and motion graphics for show opens, transitions, explainer graphics, and scenic studio graphics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver high-quality motion graphics for television using 2D and 3D animation styles.
  • Collaborate with creative directors, producers, and editors to design and develop looks and packages for news programs, special events, and documentaries.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new practices, and design/production tools.
  • Translate conceptual ideas into creative solutions and articulate design concepts to team members and clients.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative, deadline-driven work environment.
  • Maintain a strong design/production portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BA/BS or BFA/MFA degree in motion design, animation, graphic design, or relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience producing high-end creative work for television.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Expert knowledge of Maxon Cinema 4D + Redshift (or other accelerated renderers) for motion design (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Plugins such as RedGiant, Boris FX, Sapphire, AE Expression, C4D Expresso, X-Particles, etc.
  • Strong conceptual design skills, including motion design, typography, color theory, illustration, photography, and layout.
  • Experience working with fast-changing deliverables and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible schedule required.
  • Ability to clearly articulate design rationale and present design work.
  • Understanding of compositing techniques.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong design/production work.
