Summary:

To serve Central Union Church by working with the church staff, the Central Union Windward Ministry and the Music Ministry in providing a well-rounded Christian music program.

• Must have some worship experience.
• Must have extensive piano knowledge.
• Must have choral direction experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned.

1. Participates with the Director of Music Ministries and the worship team in planning music for Central Union Windward Ministry worship services and special programs.
2. Serves as pianist for worship services and special programs. Serves as pianist for weddings, memorial services/funerals, and special music events as needed.
3. Coordinates with additional musician/s, with prior approval from the Director of Music Ministries, scheduled to assist with worship services and special programs.
4. Directs the CUW Chancel Singers in providing choral music for worship services and special programs.
5. Recruits adults for the CUW choral program and trains the adults in proper singing techniques, an appreciation for sacred choral music, and appropriate participation in worship.
6. Collaborates with the Director of Music Ministries regarding the selection and acquisition of music, worship and music resources as needed for the choral program and within the annual operating budget.
7. Maintains a well-organized music library.
8. Collaborates with the Director of Music Ministries regarding potential involvement of the choir/s in concerts, workshops, and retreats.
9. Attends regular music staff meetings and may attend CUW Ministry and Music Ministry meetings if deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and volunteers.
• Broad knowledge of historical and contemporary church music in its varied forms and genres.
• Visionary choral leader who identifies trends and helps adapt worship to be inclusive of all people and cultures.
• Must successfully pass a post-offer background screening.

Pay:

From $12,000.00 per year
