Location: Washington, United States

Contract: Part Time

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with production and operations of SiriusXM’s bipartisan politics and news channel, called POTUS.
  • Quickly responding to needs within a live studio environment.
  • Working closely with the Talent and Producers.
  • Running the sound board.
  • Screening calls.
  • Handling pre- and post-production duties.

What you’ll do:

  • Run sound board for news/talk show and edit audio for on-air use.
  • Screen listener calls.
  • Pull news clips and sound bites.
  • Implement daily tasks assigned from the Producer and Talent to meet broadcast deadlines.
  • Work with Producers and Talent on following programming clocks and on-air schedule.
  • Pull audio clips from interviews and other recorded audio and post clips to social media as assigned.
  • Assist Producer with setting up pre-taped interviews and pre-show editing.
  • Work with Producers to create/edit “Best of…” programs from archives of past shows for weekend or special re-broadcasting needs.
  • May provide host with news updates and breaking stories, on occasion.
  • Help with pre-recorded interviews.
  • Incumbents of this position may be assigned to more than one program and perform slightly different functions across programs. Must have ability to work weekends.
  • This position will work with and be hands-on with The Michael Smerconish Program.

What you’ll need:

  • BS/BA Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in politics/news preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience running an audio board and screening phone calls (internship or college experience will suffice).
  • Knowledge of broadcast systems and experience with daily show production.
  • Familiarity with politics and strong journalism skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; ability to work under deadline.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project a professional image over the phone and in person.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Must have the ability to work weekends.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
