Job description:

Content Designers lead the design of content for digital services for SLC’s customers and internal users. They represent the needs of target audiences including citizens, SLC staff, and staff at Higher Education and Further Education Providers as well as internal SLC staff, in supporting the experience of each stage of customer and internal user journeys with content that is clear, accurate, usable and accessible.

Your duties will include creating, editing, posting, and updating content for SLC services which is accurate, timely, high quality and based on insight and the results of user testing. It will be relevant to the audience, easily understood, optimised for search engines following the SLC style and tone of voice. You will measure the effectiveness of that content and identify opportunities to improve content.

SLC offer a Blend working model which will typically be 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.

Person specification:

  • Experience of writing content for digital formats with the ability to create content that is accessible and usable, with an understanding of writing for assisted digital users
  • Excellent teamworking skills with the ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams and explain content design choices to business SMEs
  • Experience of deriving insights from analytical data and using that to inform content improvements
  • Experience of working with UX teams to identify usability issues and address them with recommendations
  • Experience of Digital Service Design and delivery in either the public or private sector, including balancing user needs with business objectives
  • An understanding of different media formats (social media, video content, etc) and how to use them to enhance content delivery
  • Experience across multiple phases of a Service Design and Delivery lifecycle
  • Experience working in a complex stakeholder environment, building relationships across boundaries and working collaboratively to manage conflicting demands
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications or equivalent experience and capability
