People are what make games great! Magic Media is currently seeking a Rigging Artist for a project based role to help our team on their next adventure. The ideal candidate enjoys putting their skills and knowledge to use in a variety of styles. Your broader experience in cinematics and the video production pipeline will help you work collaboratively with designers, concept artists, technical artists, and animators to create an immersive and epic experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Collaborate closely with modellers, animators, and technical directors to understand character and creature design, ensuring that rigs support the desired animation and performance goals.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality rigging systems that allow for realistic and expressive movement, facial animation, and other intricate details.
  • Create efficient and user-friendly control interfaces for animators, enabling them to achieve the desired performances smoothly.
  • Implement advanced deformation techniques, muscle systems, and simulations for both organic and mechanical characters.
  • Collaborate with the pipeline team to integrate rigging solutions seamlessly into the production pipeline, ensuring optimal functionality and compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to rigging and deformation, working closely with other departments to find efficient solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in rigging techniques, implementing innovative approaches that enhance the quality and efficiency of our work.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior rigging artists, helping them develop their skills and contribute effectively to the team.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Computer Graphics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Rigging Artist in the VFX or animation industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your rigging work.
  • Proficiency in rigging tools and software such as Autodesk Maya, Python scripting, and other relevant software.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, movement, and deformation principles for both realistic and stylized characters.
  • Experience with facial rigging, muscle systems, and cloth simulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment, adapting to changing project needs and deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and find creative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and visual, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, striving for excellence in every aspect of your work.
