About the Role
We are an established technology company with a global customer list. We are looking for an experienced z/OS System Programmer to join the team supporting our varied product portfolio.
About You
You are an experienced z/OS System Programmer with experience in developing and maintaining Assembler programs. You are on top of the latest mainframe best practices and have a track record of sharing that knowledge with your team to drive continuous improvement.
You are willing to challenge the accepted way of doing things, prepared to put forward a well thought out alternative, and open to working on the best path forward. You are a team player who collaborates with stakeholders and contributes to the software development process and the eco system supporting software development.
Key Responsibilities
- z/OS operation and support operating system upgrades.
- Install and maintain IBM and third-party software.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain systems to support development environments.
- Resolve any system-related problems that may arise in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support the design, implementation and testing of software that meets functional and business requirements.
- Support interaction with customers for support issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions.
Required Skills & Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in z/OS mainframe technical support and software management.
- Technical proficiency in z/OS Assembler (HLASM).
- Experience installing and configuring IBM and third-party software using SMP/E and/or z/OSMF.
- Experience working with z/OS systems components and sub-systems such as ISPF, JCL, TSO, RACF, IPCS, z/XDC and mainframe databases.
- Experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, COBOL, PL/1, CLIST, REXX.
General Skills & Competencies
- Practical experience in working on complex software projects.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complexities and how components connect and relate to each other.
- Team player, skilled in providing technical guidance, mentoring, and inspiring software engineers.
- Strong technical knowledge across the industry.
- Experience with Software Management tools such as Endevor.
