Location: Miami, FL

Contract: Temporary, Full-time

Our Scenic Fabrications Services encompass a wide range of trades and capabilities, our shop is a 50,000 sq. ft state of the art space where we build challenging and fun projects for TV, Film & entertainment industry. We are currently searching for a qualified candidate to work as a Scenic Technical Designer / Draftsperson. The candidate will work alongside our Sr. Technical Designer preparing construction drawings that will be interpreted by our team of talented craftspeople. All personnel is expected to cooperate in other areas outside of assigned trade. Other trade positions are available depending on experience and abilities.

Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Assist with generating construction drawings, renders, 3D modelling and shop drawings for the construction teams.
  • Development and floor plans and elevations
  • Ability to collaborate with graphic, technical, and fabrication teams to ensure feasibility of design.
  • Specify finish materials, colors, and textures, which may include gathering samples, negotiating prices, purchase requests, and tracking.
  • Source, develop, and manage outside vendors as needed to execute on creative ideas, finishes, colors and textures
  • Ability to collaborate with various teams and Stakeholders.
  • Adherence to best practices for safety and ease of construction
  • Assist Client Services Managers in building strong client relationships
  • Participate in creative team brainstorming, fabrication kick off, and load in meetings
  • Hands-on work in scenic shop, graphic application, painting, or other scenic fabrication as needed and qualified
  • Assist with organizing and maintenance of sample libraries
  • May be asked to advise and provide feedback regarding budgets, respective expenditures, and project scope of work
  • May be asked to conduct site surveys through photo documentation, dimensions, and onsite 3D modeling
  • Upholds and conducts business with high level of integrity
  • Has the ability to work logically and methodically
  • Able to pivot between tasks and work calmly under pressure
  • Efficient and flexible approach to meeting deadline
  • Solid verbal communicator with strong writing skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently on a team
  • Able to read, understand, follow, and enforce business procedure
  • Organized complex problem-solver and multitasker, with great attention to detail
  • Ensure knowledge is shared within the team to enable them to work smarter
  • Skilled in use of computers and Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, One Drive)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience within the technical theatre, event production, live events, interior design, agency or scenic fabrication industry
  • Excellent understanding of finish materials and color theory
  • Able to model, and render effectively with 3D visualizing programs – Auto Cad, Rhino, Sketch Up, VectorWorks is preferred
  • Experience in live theatre, events, or touring is a plus
  • Experience with fabrication or theatrical set construction is a plus
  • General knowledge of A/V and lighting equipment is a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Travel may be required

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
