Job Description:

The KU Memorial Union, an affiliate of the University of Kansas, is searching for a creative and skilled Part-Time Videographer to join our team. We are seeking an individual with a passion for videography, a strong technical aptitude, and the ability to capture the essence of events, dining services, and the campus atmosphere at the University of Kansas. This role will primarily involve documenting union activities, dining services, and creating compelling video content for marketing, social media, and websites, including short-form video content like TikToks and Reels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Event Videography: Attend and capture video footage of various events, meetings, and activities hosted at the KU Memorial Union. Create engaging video content that highlights the atmosphere and key moments of the events.
• Dining Services and Food Videography: Produce visually appealing video content showcasing dining services, food, and beverages offered at the KU Memorial Union. Convey the culinary experience and dining offerings on campus through video.
• Promotional Videography: Create high-quality video content for promotional materials, including promotional videos, interviews, and marketing campaigns. Collaborate closely with the marketing team to align visual content with branding and messaging.
• Short-Form Video Production: Develop short-form video content suitable for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. Stay updated with trends and create engaging, relevant content.
• Video Editing: Utilize video editing software to edit and enhance video footage. Ensure that the final videos meet quality and style standards.
• Equipment Provided: All necessary videography equipment, including cameras and accessories, will be provided by the KU Memorial Union.
• Content Management: Manage digital video content and work with content management systems (CMS) to upload and maintain video assets on the KU Memorial Union website and social media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in videography, including video editing.
• Proficiency in video editing software.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience producing video content for organizations or businesses.
• Familiarity with video analytics and related digital marketing resources and strategies.
• Experience with DSLR or professional video cameras.
• Experience with motion graphics and related software/programs.
• Knowledge of short-form video video editing and filming for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments and teams within the KU Memorial Union to understand their videography needs and deliver exceptional results.

Creative Input:

Contribute creative ideas for video concepts and projects to enhance the visual appeal of marketing materials and communication.

Availability:

Flexibility to work a minimum of 6 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed to cover events and activities.

Education:

A degree or coursework in videography, film production, or a related field is a plus but not required.
