Overview

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the:

  • Working with application developers to automate and accelerate application testing
  • Managing application deployment/releases to SDLC environments quickly and reliably
  • Ensuring that Gallagher’s data is protected in accordance with IT Policy and organizational priorities
  • Ensuring that the standardized application development process, guidelines, and best practices are observed consistently
  • Coordinating infrastructure requests - requesting servers and cloud services (Paas and IaaS) and keeping track of all assets in GAGS (GBS Application Governance System)
  • Coordinating software license renewals

Please note additional position details below:

  • This is a Temp-To-Hire, W-2 position. We are not able to do 1099 or C2C.
  • The salary for the position is $55 - 65/hr.
  • It is a fully remote role that will need to be based in the U.S. or Canada.
  • You must meet our U.S. Eligibility requirements for work authorization as noted under “Additional Information” at the bottom of the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the adoption of SDLC
  • Oversee the implementation of quality gates
  • Enforce a consistent development environment across the team, e.g., same Visual IDE version and settings
  • Maintain and enforce standard code analysis rule sets (Minimum Recommended Rule Set and Security Rule Set)
  • Implement and oversee implementation of SAST and DAST
  • Implement and enforce unit testing
  • Implement and enforce code review (SonarCloud) to ensure maintainability (code smells are minimized), reliability (bugs are fixed), and security (vulnerabilities are remediated)
  • Analyze current technology utilized within the organization and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them
  • Ensure that the standard application development (Scrum) process is implemented and consistently followed by all development team
  • Establish milestones for scrum implementation and adoption by development teams
  • Provide training and guidance on the scrum process to development teams
  • Generate analytics from DevOps on error rate/trend, work item quality, productivity to measure adoption and drive improvement
  • Provide clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution
  • Work closely with the infrastructure teams to provision hardware and software needed for projects
  • Work alongside the project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or comparable experience
  • 2+ years on DevOps
  • 1+ Azure DevOps
  • 2+ years of C# programming experience
  • Strong experience source code branching strategy
  • Strong experience in software development
  • Strong experience in the SDLC processes and best practices
  • Experience in Agile or Scrum software development methodology
  • Strong experience in CI/CD
  • Experience in Visual Studio
  • Strong experience with SQL Server database
  • Knowledge of application architecture and design patterns
  • Experience in Azure Cloud Services (Azure SQL, App Services, ADFS, etc.)
  • Experience in APM system (App Insight)
  • Experience in code reviews (manual and automated)
  • Strong experience in configuring Azure DevOps

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities concurrently
