The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy, and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be part of the Experience Design Team within the Digital and Technology department reporting to the Senior Product Designer and joining our supportive community of UX practitioners.

We work on digital products that play a key role in what Wellcome does, whether it’s funding, policy and advocacy, Wellcome Collection Museum and Library, internal and data tools. By focusing on the people who use those products, you will help ensure they are solving real problems.

What will I be doing?

As a product designer at Wellcome, you will work in one of our cross-functional product teams to deliver user-centred services and products that meet business goals. You will be responsible for the user experience of Wellcome’s digital products, either as the sole product designer or in collaboration with a senior product designer.

You will work across all the stages of the product lifecycle: from discovery and ideation to final delivery and high-fidelity implementation.

As a Product Designer, you will:

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, fellow designers, user researchers and company leaders to drive to the heart of a problem space and articulate clear requirements
  • Produce thoughtful, highly usable designs that balance user needs, technical constraints and business goals
  • Create user experience, information architecture and interaction design elements of digital products
  • Make sure all designs align with the Wellcome design system, and contribute improvements to the design system
  • Be the owner of the risk and control environment for your area and be accountable for the quality of you and your team’s outputs
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

We’re looking for a product designer, to create easy-to-use, thoughtful product experiences and engaging interfaces, to join our evolving and ambitious team at Wellcome.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong portfolio showcasing a range of work across multiple projects and products
  • Is experienced working iteratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Has extensive experience using prototypes to explore ideas, communicate design options, decisions, and test designs with real users
  • Has experience working on digital products that cater to a wide range of users, and of web and digital accessibility, knowledge of inclusive design practices
  • Is able to identify and deliver design deliverables from sketching to prototypes
  • Is able to develop effective, collaborative working relationships and work well in a team to achieve results

Our Hybrid Way of Working
