Job Description

Our client in Houston, Texas is seeking a Senior Data Scientist on a long-term contract basis. This position involves working with big data, data engineering, and data sciences, offering significant career growth opportunities. The responsibilities of this role include:

• Identifying and framing optimization opportunities
• Gathering, cleansing, and transforming internal and external data
• Analyzing data and delivering insights through visualizations and dashboards
• Creating and maintaining models/solutions to address business problems
• Presenting and defending results from analysis and modeling
• Participating in strategic planning discussions related to optimizations, data science, and big data analytics

Requirements

• 5+ years of practical experience solving optimization problems in supply chain, logistics, or operations
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with applied statistics/math and optimization techniques
• Professional experience using optimization tools (e.g., linear programming, integer programming, heuristic methods)
• Proficiency in Python, Git, and SQL
• Experience with statistics, math, and time series analysis
• Experience with AWS is a plus
• Educational background in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Industrial Engineering is a plus
• Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Additional Information

Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries/frameworks is desired. A bachelor’s degree is highly preferred, and higher education is preferred. The position is located in central Houston, Texas.
